Following the release of “One Song At A Time”, I took a few weeks to myself in order to get my head right. I began brainstorming how to move forward successfully following the release of my first mixtape without stifling my progress following a ton of success. What I then decided was that I was going to finish out the summer of ’18 with 4 more singles to put my total at 11 new songs in just 3 short months. “Close 2 Ya” was the first of those four singles, and despite the little amount of attention it brought in on Soundcloud, I believe this was one of the more sincere songs I have released.
In this song, I aimed to tackle what I think it means to be successful. More often than not, people fail themselves because they refuse to think and simply go along with what everyone around them is doing. Everything is always on a schedule for us as humans, and most of the tasks we must complete on a daily basis are drawn out for us prior to us having to think out anything at all. Thinking critically loses steam in our world every day, and the people that fall victim to this seem to fall into a pattern of being what some would call “sheeple” or “sheep people”. These people go with the flow and never concern themselves with being different. I took a stab at them.
If the shoe fits, then wear it.
