This project… This is the one. I spent 9 months grinding every day and constantly trying new flows, techniques, mixes, etc. I really worked hard on this album and I am so proud of how it came out. This 16-song album is my first release on all major platforms, which is somewhat of a dream come true for me. I always dreamed of searching myself on iTunes when I was younger, and now it’s become a reality. It means a lot to me to share a platform like iTunes with so many legendary artists of all genres, and it forms a lump in my throat just thinking of how hard I have worked to get to this day. There’s only one way up from here and I like where this is headed.
Specifically, about the album, I wouldn’t classify it in any way other than generally being hip-hop based. I sang, I mumbled (yeah, I know), and of course, I did some major damage to the pad with my lyrical rhythm. I prefer the latter of the three, as there is no doubt that my roots thrive on wordplay and poetically leaning rap music. Regardless of what I prefer, I now can do so much more than I ever thought my skill set would allow. I can thank all of my hard work on “Undercover” for that.
Lastly, the idea for the name of the album, “Undercover”, came to me when talking to a fellow member of dB music/ ØSAAT, Carter Schmitz, where he made mention of the fact we had been out of the game for a while as this album was being finished. Those four months of grinding without releasing any new music sparked the name “Undercover”.
The rest is history.
